The University of Turin is one of the most ancient and prestigious Italian Universities. Hosting about 70.000 students, 4.000 academic, administrative and technical staff, 1800 post-graduate and post-doctoral students and with 120 buildings in different areas in Turin and in key places in Piedmont, the University of Turin can be considered as “city-within-a-city”, promoting culture and producing research, innovation, training and employment. The University of Turin virtually covers every field of knowledge: some of the degree courses offered are unique in Italy. The University of Turin is engaged in all areas of research related to the contemporary arts.

In this framework, the international summer school Identity and Conservation of Contemporary Artworks, aims at reaching two main objectives: offering to a broad audience some of the best competencies present in the academic world and in the contemporary art world to make professionals able facing the challenges opened by the contemporary visual arts. The second aim is that of reinforcing the international network in which University of Turin and all others partners are involved, in order of valorising the material and immaterial goods as well as competencies which are present on the territory.



The Foundation Centro per la Conservazione e il Restauro dei Beni Culturali “La Venaria Reale” (CCR) was founded in 2005 by the Ministry of Culture, Regione Piemonte, University of Turin, the Foundation 1563 for Arts and Culture and the Foundation CRT as an institute for advanced training and research in the field of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. Politecnico of Turin, the city of Turin and the city of Venaria Reale have joined the first five founding members.

CCR is based in the magnificent complex “La Venaria Reale” in the former Stables and Riding School designed in the XVII century by Benedetto Alfieri. The CCR site is today a stunning combination of historical architecture and modern facilities.

According to the CCR bylaws, focused on training and research, the activities are organized in different department: the School of Advanced training, the Conservation and Restoration Laboratories, the Scientific Laboratories, the Imaging Laboratory, the Library and the Documentation Centre. These departments work together under the supervision of the Board of Directors and the Scientific Committee.



The University of Milano-Bicocca was founded as autonomous organization on June, 10th 1998. In the Times Higher Education rankings 2015 dedicated to the best hundred universities with less than 50 years, the University was ranked 24th in the world 1st in Italy.

The University was established with the aim of making Research the strategic foundation of all institutional activities. Research is meant as expansion of knowledge, as enhancement of training, a vehicle through which is organized the relationship with the territory, that also gives a strong contribution to the development of the productive system. The University of Milano-Bicocca pays special attention to the territoryi n which it operates, focusing at the same time the international dimension

Today, the University of Milano-Bicocca is a multidisciplinary University which trains professionals in various fields: economics and statistics, legal, scientific, medical, sociological, psychological and pedagogical. Is a young, dinamic and innovative University, which in the space of few years has created an extensive network that includes many world-famous universities, research centers and top corporations.
