VIRGINIA RUTLEDGE

  Virginia Rutledge is an art historian and attorney based in New York and Texas. Formerly a curator for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, a litigator at Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP, and Vice President and General Counsel of Creative Commons, she is now in private practice focusing on the contemporary arts, advising artists, collectors, dealers and cultural organizations. Virginia holds a J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), and an M. Phil. in Art History from the City University of New York's Graduate School and University Center. She is a past chair of the Art Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association, and speaks and writes frequently on art and law.
